Two high-school best friends explore their sexual identities with boys and girls. Rönkkö (Eleeonoora Kauhanen) is looking for an instant and profound attraction to the opposite sex, with mixed results, while Mimmi (Aamu Milonoff) is smitten by an elite skater girl, Emma (Linnea Leino), who turns up at the smoothie bar where the two friends work at weekends. Emma has previously lived only for her sport, and her new extra-curricular interest causes a rift with her ambitious mother. The girls have fun, but there are complications and wrong-turns, and with intensity comes resentment and even cruelty. The opening night gala film at this year’s BFI Flare Festival, this affectionate coming-of-age drama presents a clear-eyed, frequently funny and revealing account of middle-class teenage life in contemporary Finland.
